Katherine and Craig’s Wedding, Appleford Estate, Villanova
The story of how I ended up being the photographer for Katherine and Craig’s wedding actually goes back years to when I met Katherine’s father while I was teaching a digital photography class. We got to chatting afterward and it turned out the Katherine’s family owns an amazing summer camp called Blue Bell Camp. While not something I usually do, I somehow ended up photographing the camp and their campers for the last 3-4 summers and got to know the whole family pretty well! I think it might have all just been a test to make sure I could handle the wedding! Anyhow, I was thrilled when I found out that I had the job… I knew it would be a fun and classy affair!
Here are a few images from the wedding. I personally love detail shots and there were so many great details that we could make a whole album just out of those pictures! Of course the Appleford Estate in Villanova… which just happens to be one of our favorite venues nearby. There are great backdrops everywhere you look there! I loved her dress, which she bought from The Wedding Shoppe in Wayne, and I thought it looked great in front of all the antique books on the bookshelf.
I hope that everyone enjoys the images… if you’d like to check out some of their wedding video here’s the link to their highlight reel that my friend Alicia from Blossom Productions produced.
Cheers,

Sam and Larry’s Wedding at Stokesay Castle in Reading, PA
The first wedding I ever photographed was waaaay back in 1998… maybe it was 97?! It doesn’t really matter, but I’ve been doing this for a little while now and there are lots of things that I’ve learned over the years. One of those things is that on a wedding day there’s generally always something that doesn’t go 100% as the bride and groom had envisioned it would. Usually it’s something relatively minor… it could be that lacing up the dress ended up being more tricky than expected and things get behind schedule, maybe the flowers get delivered and they’re a slightly different color than they were supposed to be, or perhaps there’s the dreaded stain on the wedding dress! I hope I’m not making anyone paranoid here, but really the list can go on and on! Probably the biggest fear that people have leading up to their big day, is the weather. Usually rain or snow are the big concern, but in the case of Larry and Sam’s wedding… it was a hurricane… Irene to be exact. We always check in with our couples during the week leading up to the wedding to touch base and go over things one last time before the big day. Before Sam and I were able to catch each other that week, the weather peeps all started saying that Irene was headed directly to the Philadelphia area, and that it was likely she’d arrive to wreak havoc right in the middle of their wedding reception! So I fully expected my conversation with Sam to include some sobbing… or a few sniffles at the very least! I was pleasantly surprised that when we did chat, she she was amazingly upbeat! I recall her even calmly saying something to the effect of “looks like we’re going to get hit by Irene, do you think you’ll still be able to make it to photograph our wedding?” Now I’m sure I must be wrong about this, and Sam please feel free to correct me, but it felt to me as if you would have understood it if I said “yeah, sorry but I can’t make it due to the bad weather… have a nice wedding though!” Of course I reassured her that I’d be there, or die trying… maybe not in those exact words. So where am I going with all of this you ask? What I’m getting to is that Sam and Larry stayed focused on their love for each other, and let go of everything else that they couldn’t control. Despite the not quite ideal weather, they had a great time and we ended up with lots of wonderful images that capture and convey their love. If they had dwelled upon the fact that nearly 50 guests didn’t show up, or that we couldn’t do all the outdoor pictures they had wanted to do on the grounds of Stokesay Castle, you’d absolutely see that in the pictures. So in short, try not to sweat the small stuff… keep things in perspective, and remember that your wedding is about celebrating your love for each other with the people who mean the most to you.
I apologize for writing so much! I intended to include a bit about my crazy drive home in the middle of the hurricane! It was certainly interesting, but that will have to wait for another day. In the meantime, thank you Larry and Sam for being so wonderful, and I hope everyone enjoys the photos!

Summer and Tim
Here’s another taste of one of our recent weddings. Summer and Tim were a super fun couple with great style! From the shoes to the hairdo’s and hats… everyone had a vintage look that was lots of fun to photograph. They even requested that their guests wear cool hats to their wedding as well. Actually, the day they came to visit me at the studio for their initial meeting last year, I just happened to wearing a fedora. They invited me to wear it to their wedding which I was pretty excited about. But unfortunately the only hats that I’ve found work well while shooting are backwards baseball caps or berets… and neither of those really seemed like appropriate options, so I went hatless… oh well. One of the other things I loved about their wedding was that each of the tables represented one of the bands they love… which seem appropriate since Tim’s a musician.
Their wedding was at the beautiful Merion Tribute House which is always a lovely venue for outdoor weddings and here are some of the images for you… hope you enjoy them!

Tracy and Kevin
We’ve been so crazed shooting weddings these last two months that we haven’t been able to get a decent blog post up in some time. It’s our mission this next week or so to get some of our recent work on here so that everyone can see what we’ve been up to.
First I want to say that I’m so grateful that we have such awesome clients. I feel like that statement is overused…. but really it’s true! We’ve never had a bridezilla and in 13+ years of doing this, I think that’s pretty amazing! I’ve worked for other studios over the years and trust me, I’ve seen my fair share of bridezillas… maybe even a groomzilla or two! Anyhow, there were no ‘zilla’s of any sort at Tracy and Kevin’s wedding. They were awesome to work with and you could just feel their love for each other…. it doesn’t hurt that they photograph pretty well too!
The ceremony was at St. Mary’s in Manayunk and the reception was a the Corinthian Yacht Club in Philadelphia. I must say I love shooting at both of those places, the natural light at St. Mary’s is divine and I love the adventure of rolling around a floating dock while toting lots of expensive camera gear at the Corinthian Yacht club! No really, I do…
Anyhow, you’re not here to read my ramblings… here’s a little sneak peek of their pictures!
Enjoy!
